CEREC Same-Visit Crowns
If you have had traditional crowns placed, you know that the process involves messy impressions, multiple visits, and the inconvenience of temporary crowns.
CEREC (CEramic REConstruction) is a cutting-edge technology that allows us to create a fully customized crown during just one appointment. That’s right – beautiful CEREC crowns offer all the function and appearance of traditional crowns, without the inconvenience.
The CEREC Process
Patients are always curious about the process that allows us to create a new crown in just one day:
- During the first step, our dentists prepares the tooth just as she would for a traditional crown. But that’s where the similarity ends!
- Next, our dentists takes a digital image of the prepared tooth, which we use to create a 3-D model. This model is then used to construct your new crown right here in our office while you relax with a warm blanket and listen to your favorite music.
- The CEREC system uses a milling machine that follows the model to create your crown while you wait. We use the finest materials, which are all stain-resistant and durable and improve function and appearance. Our dentists carefully matches the shade of your new crown to blend seamlessly with surrounding natural teeth.
- Finally, we adjust the crown for a perfect fit, polish it, and bond it securely to your tooth.

CEREC stands for CEramic REConstruction. It is a state-of-the-art technology that enables us to produce a fully customized ceramic dental crown during a single appointment.
At Cornerstone Dental, we recommend crowns to protect and support a tooth that is compromised by decay, cracks, or root canal treatment.
The traditional process for placing a crown requires multiple visits and injections, messy impressions, and the inconvenience of a temporary crown. With CEREC technology, we can do away with all that inconvenience. When you come in and visit us for your new crown, you will leave the same day with a beautiful customized restoration.
We create CEREC crowns using CAD/CAM technology that produces a 3-D model of your tooth. This information is sent digitally to a milling machine right here at our office. Using the 3-D model as a guide, the machine mills your ceramic crown while you relax in one of our comfortable treatment rooms.
When your CEREC crown is finished, it will be placed in your mouth, adjusted for perfect fit, and cemented securely in place. Your new crown blends seamlessly with your smile and is every bit as durable as a traditional crown.
